JOYCE ANN “J.A.” ARMBRISTER

Joyce Ann “J.A.” Armbrister passed away Saturday, November 25, 2006 at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Savannah, Georgia. She was 83 years old. A wonderful Mother and good person, she has been a resident of the Savannah community for the last two and a half years residing at the Savannah Commons Retirement Community. Born and raised in the Portsmouth, Ohio area into the Wurster family. Mrs. Armbrister was twice married. Her first husband, Ralph W. Armbrister, and second was Mr. Clifford Olson, both deceased.
JA was one of the first women to join the Marine Corps during WWII, and proudly served her country for three years during that period. She was an active member of the Marine Corps League, and the Daughters of the American Revolution DAR. Mrs. Armbrister has family and friends all over the United States. She lived in Ohio, Florida and Colorado prior to moving to the Savannah area.
She is survived by her four loving children, Michael Armbrister, Eugene Armbrister, Scott Armbrister, and Sherry Armbrister Stewart. JA has an older sister, Miriam Groves of Ocala, Florida. Mrs. Armbrister also has many grandchildren and great grandchildren who will miss her dearly, and loved her very much.
Mrs. Armbrister received a Marine Corps honor ceremony and her ashes will be spread per her wishes in a private family ceremony in Dunnellon, Florida on Saturday, December 2, 2006.
